Every Rotary Club is expected to comply with the laws of the land and the aim of this section is to support members by providing easy access to information and up-to-date policies recommended by Rotary GB&I.
Compliance - Rotary GB&I Members Area
Adherence to the above policies and guidance should ensure that our club and its members do not inadvertently breach these particular areas of general law. As such, Rotary GB&I expect each Rotary Club to sign and return the “Rotary GB&I Compliance Statement” annually at the beginning of the new Rotary year.
Clearly, we need to protect two specific groups of people: the general public, particularly children and vulnerable adults from abuse and, to a lesser extent, ourselves from misunderstandings and from failing to follow guidelines. The policies and other reference material in the guidance compiled by Rotary GB&I are likely to apply to the regular and ‘one-off’ activities of our club.
It is, therefore, expected that:
- Our club will adopt and sign the Rotary GB&I Club Compliance Statement and return this to the District Secretary annually.
- All members will adhere to Rotary GB&I recommended policies and procedures available on the above hyper link.
- Risk assessments will be completed, if necessary, by the ‘leader’ of each club activity.
- The Club will appoint a Compliance & Protection Officer and a Deputy Compliance & Protection Officer annually.
- The Club’s Compliance & Protection Officer and Deputy Officer will offer members support as appropriate.
